In addition to becoming more confident, you will be on the fast track to obtaining your motorcycle license and may be elible for insurance discounts. You must bring your MMSEC course completion certificate to your local BMV along with your $10 permit fee and glasses or contacts if you require them. Your motorcycle permit will be valid for up to two years. Each state has different laws regarding whether or not the holder of a motorcycle driver's permit can drive in their state. Please check with each state's BMV ahead of time. The restrictions for anyone holding a State of Maine motorcycle permit are as follows:

  • motorcyle can only be driven from sunrise to sunset
  • driver must carry no passengers
Obtaining a motorcycle driver's license

There are no time restrictions on how soon after obtaining you permit you can apply for your motorcyle license driver's exam. Upon obtaining your motorcycle driver's license you will be a provisional driver for a period of one year. During that initial year, no matter your age, you must wear your motorcycle helmet whenever you ride. Mullen's Driving School endorses wearing safety gear including a DOT approved helmet at all times.
